OXFORD City Stars have kept hold of Adz Andrews for next season.

The defensive player has re-signed for Dean Birrell’s side after returning to Oxpens midway through the last campaign.

Andrews first played for Stars from 2004 to 2006 and is desperate to make up for lost time after the 2019/20 season was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

He said: “It’s great to be back, having come midway through the season last year I was gutted when it was cut short.

“When I joined back up with the Stars, I always said it held great memories for me and coming back didn’t disappoint.

“Nothing beats playing in front of the Oxford faithful so my decision was easy and I can’t wait to get back with the boys.

“Having spoken to Dean a lot during lockdown, I’m excited to hear his plans for the Stars next season and the fans most certainly will have a lot to look forward to once the squad’s complete.”

Andrews adds plenty of know-how to the Stars ranks, thanks to a career that has taken him to clubs including Coventry Blaze, Nottingham Lions, Swindon Wildcats and Solihull Barons.

Birrell added: “Adz is an experienced D-Man who will be a calming influence in the squad.

“He is a big character and will play a key part in supporting the development of younger players, while ensuring we are a tight unit and competitive.”
