OXFORD City Stars have received another boost after re-signing Mike Whillock.

The popular forward provided 18 goals and 13 assists in English National League Division 1 South last season.

The 27-year-old follows Dax Hedges, Josh Florey and Ross Miller in becoming the fourth player from the 2019/20 campaign to commit their future to Stars and is relishing returning to Oxpens.

He said: “I’m looking forward to being with the Stars for another season.

“We made a big jump last season and made some good foundations to build on this year.

“I’m confident we can impress further this coming season.”

Whillock has spent most of his career with Stars, but has also had spells playing in Sweden and Germany.

His return was welcomed by head coach Dean Birrell, who has also secured the services of Jay Warren on a season-long loan from Swindon Wildcats 2.

Birrell said: “Mike is a powerful player, who has a high work rate and fitness levels and knows where the net is.

“He is an important part of the Oxford squad and unsurprisingly there was interest in him from other clubs, so we’re pleased he has committed to the club once again.”
