Oxford City Stars captain Josh Florey has re-signed for the club for the new campaign.

The 28-year-old follows netminder Ross Miller in committing himself to the club under new head coach Dean Birrell.

For Florey it will be the eighth consecutive season at Oxpens, although at this stage the impact of coronavirus casts some doubt over when competitive action can resume.

He said: “I’m excited to be pulling on the yellow and blue jersey for another season.

"I’m keen to get going, whenever that may be.”

He added: “I’m looking forward to working under Dean, who is a great appointment in my eyes and I believe the team will benefit from that this season.

"I’d just like to say thank you to all Stars fans for their continued support, and I look forward to seeing you all at Oxpens soon. Stay safe.”

Birrell said: “Josh is an integral part of the squad and we’re pleased to have secured his services for another season.

"He is part of the core of the team and a leader and I’m looking forward to working with him on and off the ice.”
