NEWCASTLE United will field a strong line-up for tomorrow's Emirates FA Cup clash against Oxford United, says Magpies boss Steve Bruce.

The fourth round tie will be watched by a near-capacity crowd, with the final few home tickets snapped up this morning and more than 3,600 U's fans set to travel north.

The Premier League side are hoping to hand debuts to Nabil Bentaleb, who joined on loan from Schalke on Monday, and Valentino Lazaro, once the Inter Milan winger's loan move is completed today.

Forwards Allan Saint-Maximin and Joelinton are also in contention, but striker Andy Carroll may have to miss out through injury.

Bruce told the club's official website: "I'll play as strong as I can and try and get into the next round. I said that from the moment I walked through the door.

"Who knows - can we go on and have a cup run? We've got a wonderful opportunity.

"The city and the supporters would like nothing more than a cup run; they haven't had it for years.

"Let's see if we can get past (Oxford) and be in the last 16. It'd be great."

He added: ""We can't take anybody lightly. We have to be wary of the underdog. If we perform well I am confident."

United beat Newcastle 3-0 at the Kassam Stadium at this stage of the competition three years ago.

Magpies midfielder Isaac Hayden played for the visitors that day and is desperate to avoid a repeat.

Speaking to the club's official website, the 24-year-old said: "Technically they are a League One side but it's their big day, playing in front of 50,000 fans at St James' Park.

"They're going to want to give a good account of themselves and try and cause an upset.

"The lads don't need reminding of the threats lower-league teams pose to us. This is a one-off chance and anything can happen."
