SOUTHEND United’s season has been nothing short of a disaster.

Without Bolton Wanderers’ points deduction, the Shrimpers would already be well adrift at the bottom of Sky Bet League One.

But if Southend escape relegation then these men will surely play a part, starting with tomorrow’s visit of Oxford United.

SIMON COX

Since signing from Reading in summer 2016, the former Ireland striker (pictured) has been key for the Shrimpers.

Cox scored 43 goals in the last three campaigns, but has found it harder in this season’s struggling side.

ELVIS BWOMONO

The full back has been a rare bright spark at Roots Hall this season, keeping experienced teammate Jason Demetriou out of the side.

A youth academy graduate who turns 21 next week, Bwomono is having to grow up fast.

CHARLIE KELMAN

He may have only just turned 18, but Kelman grabbed the headlines back in January with a spectacular goal from inside his own half against Plymouth – on his debut.

The forward’s opportunities have mainly come from the bench since then, but he has still managed to score three times this season.
