DARREN Elliott and Manon Bradley were the big winners at the 2019 Oxfordshire Sports Awards.

Oxford City Stars stalwart Elliott won the sportsman of the year prize at last night’s event at Oxford’s MINI Plant.

World champion powerlifter Bradley was named sportswoman of the year at the ceremony.

JUNIOR TEAM OF THE YEAR

Winner: Cherwell Volleyball Team. Runners-up: Matrix Netball Club, U14 Whitchurch Primary School 5/6 football teams.

COMMUNITY CLUB OF THE YEAR

Winner: Shiplake Stars (netball). Runners-up: Horus 7’s Rugby, Ricochet Trampoline Club.

COMMUNITY COACH OF THE YEAR

Winner: Claire Dash and Jon Blades (running/community fitness). Runners-up: Charlotte Hayes (football and cricket), Emma-Jane Morbey (dance).

UNSUNG HERO

Winner: Mary Howlett (Chinnor Tennis Club). Runners-up: Claire Jarvis (swimming), Steve Honey (Chesterton FC).

DISABILITY AWARD

Winner: West Oxfordshire Wheelchair Dance. Runners-up: Alex Queck Richards (various sports), Regatta for the disabled (bell boating).

ACTIVE SCHOOL OF THE YEAR

Winner: Bure Park Primary School. Runners-up: Cheney Secondary School, Deddington Primary School.
