BEN Rowland triumphed in dramatic circumstances to win the Switzerland Open and claim his biggest win to date.

The Abingdon player won the final in a blackball shootout after the scores were tied when the 1hr 40min time limit elapsed.

Rowland, 21, has been playing pool for just eight years and it was his first Chinese Eight-Ball event, but he saw off six players to reach the final.

The victory made him the highest-ranked player in Europe.

Rowland is aiming to remain top of the continental rankings with a strong display at the final event of the year in Germany later this month.
