IT’S a big day for North Leigh when they entertain Corby Town in BetVictor Southern League Division 1 Central.

The club are holding a reunion with around 60 former players attending the game, and joint boss Craig Dore hopes his side can put on a good display.

He said: “Corby gave us a real hiding here last year, but we are showing this season how far we have come and how much better we are.

“It will be brilliant if we can put on a performance for the crowd, and continue our push up the table, but we know how tough the game will be.”

He added: “Corby are a really tough side and are unbeaten.

“But we are not concerned by that, we will give a good account of ourselves and hopefully continue to climb the table.”

Ekow Elliott and Callum McNish return to the side after missing Monday’s win at Coleshill Town, but Josh Dutton-Black is ruled out after he suffered a knee ligament injury.

Dore added: “It will be a special day for the club and will be great to see lots of former players at the ground.”

Didcot Town boss Jamie Heapy has a raft of injury problems ahead of their trip to Bedworth United.

A 2-0 defeat in last Saturday’s FA Trophy tie against Larkhall was made even worse by the loss of three players through injury, one before the game had even started.

Lewis Hayden (ankle), George Nash (ankle) and Josh Pin (hip) are struggling, and with Seth Humphries still sidelined – also with an ankle problem – Didcot could be down to the bare bones.

He said: “We just aren’t getting the rub of the green lately – the injuries and result were obviously a huge disappointment for us.

“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to bounce back at Bedworth, and with the injuries, it gives an opportunity to others to stake a claim to be a regular in the side.”

Thame United boss Mark West praised his side’s character ahead of tomorrow’s home clash with struggling St Neots Town.

Although Thame have not won for three matches, West’s men produced a brilliant fightback from 3-0 down to snatch a 3-3 midweek draw at Winchester in the FA Trophy.

West said: “We changed a few things and it all just clicked. It was a brilliant comeback.

“Our performances haven’t been bad. We looked sloppy at Winchester, but we turned it around, and that gives us a lot of hope.”

Andy Gledhill is ruled out after he suffered a dislocated elbow in midweek, while Matt Peake-Pijnen and Harry Mepham are both major doubts with ankle injuries.

Wantage Town travel to Bedford Town still desperately looking for their first victory of the season.

Goalkeeper Renell Mckenzie-Lyle has signed on loan from Barnet, while pacy winger Josh McGory has also joined.

Dan James (knee), Joe Hartley (glute), James Webster (toe) and Ryan Fry (sickness) all face a race against time to be fit.

Kidlington host Yaxley, hoping to pull away from the foot of the table.

In Premier Division Central, Banbury United entertain fellow high-fliers Biggleswade Town.

A battling 1-1 draw at Stourbridge last weekend was followed up by a 1-0 win over Racing Club Warwick in the Birmingham Senior Cup in midweek.
