ORACLE look set to clinch the Oxford & District Summer League title tonight, writes PETE EWINS.

The leaders require three points from their game at Berinsfield to seal top spot.

The champagne has been on ice since they were held to a 3-3 draw at bottom club Gladiators.

Mark Trafford put Oracle in front before Dave Jarman and a last-ball win for Dave Gordon put the home side 2-1 in front.

Trafford (11,480) made it 2-2 before Jarman put Gladiators back ahead, winning on the last ball.

Matt Jones forced a draw, however, playing the table out with a superb 17,650.

West Oxford Democrats Club and Donnington Club will seemingly fight it out for the runners-up spot.

Democrats, four points behind the leaders, saw their title hopes suffer a big blow with a 4-2 defeat at Masons.

Billy Hill won twice, but victories for Dave Rose (2), Alan Lowe and Maxi McDonnell gave Masons the points.

Donnington are two points behind Democrats after a 5-1 win over Berinsfield.

Mike Jones (11,260 & 5,290), Melvyn Johnson (6,230 & 2,690) and Vinny Brown (6,240) starred in Vikings’ 5-1 win at Bletchington.

Pete Soanes saved the whitewash for the home side.
