BICESTER-BASED Rory Gilsenan was left celebrating after landing the Charles Owen Supreme Working Hunter Championship.

Riding Atlantic Sim, the Irishman’s triumph at the Longines Royal International Horse Show in West Sussex was made all the more remarkable by the fact he was diagnosed with a brain tumour last year.

“I’m lucky the problem I have hasn’t knocked me back,” said Gilsenan. “I’ve had the radiotherapy, obviously, and I’m still on the chemo, and I have another MRI scan next week.”
