A LATE double bogey saw Eddie Pepperell endure a mixed opening round at the St Jude Invitational in the United States.
The Abingdon golfer carded a level-par 70 at the lucrative World Golf Championships event in Memphis, Tennessee.
Pepperell, who begins his second round at 6.15pm BST, is joint 36th – eight shots behind early leader Jon Rahm.
The world No 38 made a solid start, completing the front nine in a one-under-par 34, thanks to a birdie at the sixth.
Pepperell moved to two under when picking up another shot at the par-three 11th.
Despite a bogey at the 14th, the Frilford Heath member was on course for a positive start with a birdie at the 16th.
But a double bogey at the last hole saw Pepperell slip back to level par.
