Oxford United have missed out on bringing Luke Garbutt back, the left-sided player instead joining fellow Sky Bet League One side Ipswich Town.
The Everton man spent last season on loan at the Kassam Stadium, impressing at the end of the campaign.
initially joining as a left-back, the 26-year-old produced a string of fine displays on the wing, scoring three goals in United’s final five games.
Boss Karl Robinson had made no secret of his desire to bring Garbutt back to United for the 2019/20 campaign.
But he has been foiled, with the Everton player putting pen to paper on a deal that will see him stay at Portman Road until the end of the season.
