SOPHIE Mitchelmore hit a fine half-century for Oxfordshire Girls Under 17s, but it could not prevent a
five-wicket defeat to Warwickshire.
She rebuilt an innings which was wobbling at 31-3, going on to rack up 52 runs from 81 deliveries at Barnt Green.
Supported by Numa Shah and Lottie Oxton, Mitchelmore’s knock got Oxon up to 135-6.
Warwickshire’s reply was slowed by a terrific catch from Victoria Harris, while Oxton did well to engineer a run out.
But it could not stop the hosts cruising to their target with 11 overs to spare.
Saxon Girls Under 13s went down by 23 runs to
Gloucestershire at Stanton St John.
A maiden half-century from Lucy Johnson was the highlight, but the visitors’ total, which included 105 extras, 73 of which were wides, proved out of reach.
