OXFORD United are seen as an outside bet to reach the play-offs next season.

With the 24 teams now confirmed for the third tier in 2019/20, the early odds put Karl Robinson’s men as the ninth favourites for promotion.

They are viewed as 7-1 shots in Sky Bet League One, alongside Burton Albion and Fleetwood Town.

Sunderland, who lost to Charlton Athletic in the play-off final last Sunday, have been installed as favourites.

Portsmouth, another to fall in the post-season, are expected to challenge again, while the chances of Ipswich Town and Rotherham United bouncing straight back from relegation are seen as strong.

Lincoln City are also in the mix to follow in Luton Town’s footsteps and go from League Two to the Championship in the space of two seasons.

Bolton Wanderers are well down the list due to their 12-point deduction for going into administration, although five clubs are ranked below them.

The longest odds belong to Bury, who are also experiencing financial difficulties.
