IT was a tale of four Charlies for Westbury as they began their first campaign in Division 1 of the Cherwell League with a crushing eight-wicket victory over Long Marston.

Charlie Tredwell (3-10), Charlie Williams (3-11) and Charlie Purton (3-12) combined to dismiss the visitors for just 67, with Long Marston’s final wicket falling to Charlie Harper.

And Westbury wasted little time reaching the target, racing to 68-2 in the 13th over.

Shipton-under-Wychwood’s return to the league ended in a one-wicket defeat at Cumnor.

The visitors posted 174 all out, Max Mannering claiming 5-25.

Calum Taylor then took 4-31 for Shipton, but Cumnor sneaked to 175-9 to secure the win.

Didcot cruised to a seven-wicket win at Great Brickhill.

The hosts set 228-7, Garth Davson hitting 112 not out.

But Vishane Perera (92no) and Adam Webb (64) then led Didcot to 229-3 with more than two overs to spare.

Abingdon Vale began with a two-wicket win at Tiddington.

Joe Butcher took 4-41 and Dan Hartley 3-47 in Tiddington’s 130 all out, Nick Pykett top-scoring with 61.

Vale then edged in at 131-8, Tim Chilvers hitting 43 and Neil Smith taking 4-17.

Twyford fell to a one-run defeat on the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method at Buckingham Town 2nd.

They set 227-9 in their 50 overs, but Buckingham reached the par score after 46 overs to secure the narrowest of wins after a rain delay.

In Division 2, Minster Lovell saw off visitors Challow & Childrey by 18 runs.

They were bowled out for 156 as Joe Harris took 4-29, before James Mutton claimed 5-16 as Challow were dismissed for 138.

Bicester & North Oxford crushed hosts Horspath 2nd by ten wickets after skittling them out for just 62, and then Markus Jeacock (32no) led Bicester home in 10.1 overs.

Cropredy saw off Banbury 2nd by two wickets.

Jake Heath took 4-27 in Banbury’s 98 all out, then Cropredy edged home at 101-8.

Aston Rowant 2nd lost by six wickets at Wolverton Town.

They set 175-8 in their 50 overs, but Wolverton eased to 176-4 with more than 15 overs to spare.

Meanwhile, Bledlow Village defeated hosts Leighton Buzzard Town by 27 runs.

Oxford Downs 2nd kicked off their Division 3 campaign in style with a nine-wicket victory over Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts.

Nondies were held to 172-9 in their 50 overs, before Luke Maslen (74no) and Darryl Woods (59) led Downs home.

Thame 2nd saw off Horley by two runs on the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method.

Horley set 175-2 in 46 overs, Dave Taylor hitting 81.

Thame’s Christian Warwick then scored 87 not out as Thame also reached 175-2 in the 32nd over – two runs ahead of the par score.

East Oxford dismissed Stokenchurch for just 84 before racing to a

seven-wicket win, while Oxford 2nd saw off Sandford St Martin by 46 runs, despite being all out for 135.

Banbury 3rd fell to a 42-run defeat against visitors Great Brickhill 2nd as they had to settle for 198-5 chasing Brickhill’s 240-8.

In Division 4, Witney Mills beat Great & Little Tew by 88 runs.

Pierre Lefort hit 99 not out in Mills’s 279-6 before Tew were held to 191-6 in reply.

Swapnil Kulkarni took 4-12 and then scored 50 not out to help Horspath 3rd to a five-wicket win at Long Marston 2nd.

Elsewhere, Charlbury ran out 20-run winners at Bletchley Town.

Visitors Tiddington 2nd beat Abingdon Vale 2nd by 119 runs as Dan West hit 79 in his side’s 292-9.

The hosts did not help themselves by conceding a huge 55 extras, including 41 wides.

And Vale were then dismissed for 173, despite a flamboyant 51 from

Jonathan Cummings.

Adam Wirth smashed a sensational 210 and Eric Carpenter 103 as Brackley crushed Kimble by 192 runs.

Brackley set a staggering 379-4 before restricting Kimble to 187-5 in their reply.

Oliver Ward’s superb 119 helped Bicester & North Oxford 2nd to a crushing 144-run win over Oxford Downs 3rd in Division 7.

Bicester racked up 253-3 in 45 overs, Nick Moorman adding 58.

Lewis Moore (3-17) then helped to dismiss Downs for 109.

Emilia Bartram took 5-22 as Charlbury 2nd beat Minster Lovell 2nd by 56 runs.

Jordan Smith starred for Kingston Bagpuize in their 23-run win over Cropredy in Division 5.

Smith struck 91 in Kingston’s 221-9, and then Cropredy fell for 198 in their reply.

In Division 6, Richard Tredwell’s half-century helped Westbury 2nd defeat hosts Chearsley by 111 runs.

Westbury set 234-8 as Tredwell hit 53, and then the home side were bowled out for only 123.

In Division 8, Callum Betts took 6-18 to help Thame Town 3rd to a 28-run win at Challow 3rd.

Thame set 151-8 and then dismissed their hosts for 123.

Elliot Bryant smashed 128 for Shipton 3rd in their 48-run victory at Stokenchurch 2nd.

In Division 9, Reece Probert’s 5-21 helped Cumnor 3rd to an 86-run win at Thame 4th, while Tiddington 3rd thrashed Kingston Bagpuize 2nd by 257 runs as Sam Warren hit 114.
