JORDANNE Whiley has been selected to represent Great Britain at the BNP Paribas World Team Cup in Israel later this month.

The 26-year-old, who lives in Steventon, will compete in the wheelchair tennis equivalent of the Davis Cup and Fed Cup in Ramat Hasharon from May 13-18.

Whiley, ranked 17th in the world after winning 21 of her 22 singles matches since returning to the sport following the birth of her first child, has not appeared in the women’s event since 2015.

The ten-time grand slam champion is a multiple silver and bronze medallist in the tournament.

She said: “I’m really happy to be back competing at the World Team Cup.

“It’s a different atmosphere than at the usual tournaments we play and it will be nice to be with the whole team again.

“I think we can definitely medal this year.”
