KIDLINGTON edged towards safety with a gritty goalless draw at Cambridge City.

The result increased their cushion over the relegation zone in Division 1 Central of the Evo-Stik South League to four points with three games remaining.

Their original meeting earlier this month had been abandoned following a broken leg to Kidlington goalkeeper Sam Warrell.

Cambridge were 3-0 up at the time, but could not find a way through in the replayed fixture.

Elsewhere, the champagne remains on ice in Wantage Town's bid to win the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division.

Victory at home to third-placed Brackley Town Saints would have sealed the title, but they were held to a 0-0 draw.

That leaves Wantage two points clear heading into this weekend's final round of games.

But their superior goal difference over Brimscombe & Thrupp - and Brackley, who are a point further back - means a draw at Windsor on Easter Monday will be enough to finish top.

It may not get that far, as Brimscombe's final match, against rock bottom Abingdon United, is played on Sunday evening.
