MATTHEW Powell is on the road to recovery after suffering a double leg break in Banbury’s win over Witney.
The flanker was hurt in a ruck in the first half of the South West 1 East fixture and underwent surgery on Sunday.
Powell’s injury is a blow for Bulls, who are targeting a fourth successive Oxfordshire Cup triumph when they take on Chinnor Falcons at Iffley Road on Thursday night.
Banbury head coach Matt Goode said: “The operation went well, so that's decent.
“He's broken his fibula in two places and I think he dislocated his ankle a little bit.
“It's not great as it's not ideal preparation for a cup final, but we wish him a speedy recovery.”
