OXFORD United have been served with a winding-up petition from Kassam Stadium landlords Firoka.
The court confirmed the paperwork was issued yesterday, with a hearing set for May 22.
It is believed to be over the latest rent payment, which was due last month, and comes days after the club paid their non-playing staff late for March.
United’s relationship with Firoka has been difficult this season, with the company – owned by former chairman Firoz Kassam – starting proceedings in February chasing £240,000 as part of the historic service charge, which had been put on hold during arbitration proceedings.
It was settled by the club before it reached court. They have also been served with three winding-up petitions from HM Revenue & Customs over late tax payments since Sumrith ‘Tiger’ Thanakarnjanasuth’s takeover in February 2018.
