DARREN Elliott knows it will be an emotional time when he takes to the ice for his testimonial match.
The Oxford City Stars club captain will shortly call time on a 29-year career, 27 of which were spent at Oxpens.
The Oxford Stars v Elliott’s Select match will take place on Sunday, June 16th, with doors opening at 5.30pm.
“I’m so grateful to the club for granting me a testimonial, it’s an honour for me and my family,” he said.
“Playing for Stars has meant the world to me and I’ve loved every minute of it.
“It will be an emotional day knowing it’s my last game for the Stars, but it will also be a lot of fun for everyone.
“A lot of great players have agreed to play for me, and I am sure it will be a great ice hockey occasion.
“The number of messages I’ve received since I announced my retirement has been overwhelming.
“Now I’m concentrating on enjoying the rest of the season and making sure I finish on a high.
“It’s not really sunk in that it is coming to an end – but once the season is over, I know I’ll start to look forward to the testimonial match.”
