CITY of Oxford finished seventh in the final of the National Arena League at Cardiff International Pool.

The club progressed to the showdown in Wales after qualifying from the Southern League with Wycombe and Guildford.

City scored a total of 257 points, with London-based Leander claiming victory with 361.

Among the star performers were David Murphy (men’s open) and Jeffery Cheung (boys 11), who triumphed in their respective 100m breaststroke events.

Dan Jenkins came second in the men’s open 100m backstroke.

The women’s open 4x50m medley relay and boys 15 and under 4x50m medley relay teams also finished second.

Meanwhile, Bicester Blue Fins impressed in the Level 3 meet at Aqua Vale Aylesbury.

The club scored 1,628 points to finish second, thanks to 50 medals and 85 per cent of their swimmers recording personal bests.

Among the star performers was Caitlin Laverick, 15, who won four gold and three bronze medals.

She triumphed in the 200m medley, 50m breaststroke, 100m breaststroke and 50m butterfly.

Tia Falkner, 14, won the 200m medley and 50m butterfly.

Joshua Scrivener, ten, landed four golds, two silvers and a bronze.

He claimed victory in the 50m freestyle, 200m freestyle, 200m medley and 100m backstroke.

Harry Snelgrove, nine, won the 100m backstroke, with Luca Soleil-Arnephy, 17, first in the 200m breaststroke.
