VIKINGS booked their place in the semi-finals of the Gracie J’s League Cup with a 4-2 success at Masons Arms, writes PETE EWINS.
The closely-fought tie in the Oxford & District League competition saw Chris Bateman (4,930) levelling for the hosts after Alan Oliver (5,450) took the opener.
Ian Moss and Mike Jones made it 3-1 to Vikings, but Masons took the first pairs to keep the quarter-final alive.
Alan Lowe and Dave Rose needed to win by 50 in the finale, but lost out to Allan Lacey and Moss (5,620).
Oracle A beat Berinsfield 4-2 in the Threes quarter-final.
Berinsfield led 2-1 after Adam Ingram (4,560) and Phil McFarland responded to a victory from Mark Trafford (10,280).
But Trafford (6,740), Ian Gordon and Pauline Withey (6,030) won the next four legs for victory.
West Oxford Democrats are also through after a 5-1 win against Oracle B.
