OXFORD United have released defender Steven Johnson-Fikula by mutual consent.
The 18-year-old was part of the intake for the club’s inaugural under 23 squad, agreeing a one-year contract last summer.
He was spotted in a League Football Education trial after he was released by Mansfield Town and played in United's Premier League Cup campaign.
Johnson-Fikula also spent time on loan at Aylesbury, but with several other players in his position coming through the club's set-up, he had fallen down the pecking order.
Dan Harris, head of United's academy, told the club's website: “We wish Steven all the very best for the future.
"He is a terrific character, has been a credit to his family, and really gave it his all.
"We will do everything we can to help him find a new club and continue his career elsewhere.”
