OXFORD City Stars have re-signed forward Mike Whillock to boost their title campaign.

Head coach Kenny Redmond moved quickly to bolster his squad after Joe Edwards joined MK Thunder.

Netminder Mark Duffy has also left the Stars, after moving back to his home club Bracknell Hornets.

Whillock, who has spent most of his career at Oxpens, joined Swedish League 2 club Svenstaviks HK at the end of last season.

But following the end of the Swedish ice hockey season, he has returned to Oxpens.

He said: “I’m really excited to be coming back to Oxford.

“I’ve enjoyed my time in Sweden and have learnt a lot which I hope to bring back with me.

“I’m looking forward to playing in front of the fans again, they make Oxpens my favourite place to play hockey.”

Edwards said: “As an Oxford boy leaving the club has been a difficult decision, but I felt I had to take the opportunity to test myself at a higher level.

“I take immense pride from having played for Oxford and I’ve so many great memories from my time with the club. I wish everyone well for the future.”

Duffy added: “I’ve really enjoyed my time at Oxford and wish everyone all the best for the future. It’s been a great couple of years for everyone – it’s a great club.”
