RYAN Moore has set his sights on another successful year at Bicester & North Oxford CC.

The north Oxfordshire club have won two promotions and the Wilf Bennett Cup over the last three seasons.

And they head into 2019 on the back of a memorable 12 months.

Bicester equalled the Cherwell League’s record for most wins in a season with 16, while they broke the club’s previous best points tally with 416 as they were crowned Division 3 champions.

The second XI were also promoted from Division 7, while the third team enjoyed their most successful campaign for almost a decade when finishing sixth in Division 10.

Moore, Bicester’s first team captain, wants to see the club continue to progress.

He said: “We’re really pleased with the way things have gone over the last few years, and everyone at the club has worked hard to get to where we are.

“But we’ve set ourselves some challenging targets over the next five years, so in that sense it feels very much like this is the beginning of the journey, not the end.”

Key to achieving success is building a strong player base and, with winter nets starting at the Cooper School from January 16, chairman Phil Mist is hoping to see some new faces.

He said: “There are opportunities for players of all abilities, and one of our medium-term goals is to re-establish our fourth league side.

“Bringing new players in makes the whole club stronger, and we know that if we keep doing things the right way we can, and give ourselves every chance of sustainable success.”
