ATHLETICS: A number of local club runners got into the festive spirit at the Hooky Christmas Canter.

Storm Deidre led to a muddy seven-mile multi-terrain race, but that did not affect the mood, with fancy dress optional and mince pies the reward at the finish line.

Alchester AC’s Caroline Kerr led the way in the vet 55 category, with clubmates Robert Kerr and David Basham the top vet 60 and 70 respectively.

Bicester Tri: R Young 1.02.25, M Lever 1.10.35, S Lever 1.12.45, E Doherty 1.13.34, A Spaul 1.13.34, S Harrison 1.31.45.

Meanwhile, Andy Stickley and Annelies Henshall competed in the Pink City Half Marathon in Jaipur, India.

They ran together, finishing in 2hrs 8mins.

FOOTBALL: Ardley United’s Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division fixture at Binfield last Friday was postponed.

They are next in action on Saturday, when they travel to Tuffley Rovers.

In the Oxfordshire Senior League Premier Division, Bicester United lost 5-1 at home to Mansfield Road.

POOL: Ashton A opened up a two-point lead at the top of Division 1 after beating Ex’s Deviants 5-4 in the Bicester Advertiser League.

They opened up a gap following The Crown Inn, Twyford’s 6-3 defeat at home to Harry’s Potter’s, who leapfrogged their rivals into second.
