OXFORD City are flying high as they attempt to pull off an upset in the Buildbase FA Trophy.

They visit Vanarama National League side Maidenhead United in the first round tomorrow.

But the two sides will go into the tie in contrasting form – while the Magpies have lost eight of their last ten league games, City are on a four-game winning streak in the division below.

Jones, who brought up 100 games in charge by overseeing a 3-1 victory against East Thurrock United on Tuesday, just wants to see more of the same.

He said: “I really am liking what I’m seeing from this team.

“We’ve got a little bit of everything about us – we’re hungry, we’re young and have good technical players.

“We’re in a good place at the moment and we’ve just got to keep grounded, stay humble and keep working hard.”

City will be tested heading into the packed festive schedule from next week, but their small squad limits Jones’s options to shuffle his pack for the Trophy.

However, there could be some changes at York Road tomorrow.

Jones said: “What we want is to try to keep the momentum going, so I don’t envisage us resting a lot of players.

“We haven’t got a massive squad to be fair, but we might give one or two a chance and try to keep people fresh.”

While there is a minor concern over Zac McEachran (knee), the form of top-scorer Kabongo Tshimanga gives City hope of knocking out Maidenhead.

The striker netted twice in midweek to take his tally for the season to 17.

Jones said: “That was a real exhibition of how to play centre forward. His movement was good, his hold up play was good.

“Kabby’s last couple of performances have been absolutely exceptional.”
