STEVE Evans says he is delighted Karl Robinson has turned Oxford United’s season around.

The Peterborough United boss (pictured) is gearing up to face a U’s side tomorrow who have lost just once in their last dozen games.

It has changed the mood and lifted much of the pressure on Robinson, although there is still plenty of work remaining to climb away from trouble.

But Evans, who has faced his counterpart many times, has been pleased to see the progress.

He told Posh’s website: “When they got the summer campaign going, everyone said straight away ‘challenger’ – I was one of them.

“I know Karl took some stick but I told him when we recently met that it was brilliant he turned it round, because it proves he was the right appointment at the time.”

He added: “They’re a good team who didn’t start so well.

“If you lose your best players – and Karl had four or five of them in the treatment room – (it’s hard) but gradually now they’re back.

“They had a wonderful performance at Plymouth and they will come here and play in the way that Karl’s teams do.

“They’re in good form, so we need to be ready.”
