CHINNOR needed more late drama to make it five games unbeaten when clinching a 28-21 victory at home to Sale.

After letting slip a 21-0 lead, Craig Holland was, once again, the hero, converting his own try in the 76th minute as the

Thame-based side remained third in National League 1.

Sale have former Chinnor player Dave Seymour in their ranks and started well before losing a player to the sin-bin.

The hosts took advantage and Holland dived over, Greg Goodfellow converting.

Chinnor led 21-0 at half-time when Will Bordill dotted down twice from catch and drives, Goodfellow converting.

But Sale hit back after Jack Ramshaw was yellow carded and were soon level.

Three tries in ten minutes from Ryan Parkinson, Tom Ailes and Connor Doherty, Matthew Bradley adding the extras, saw the visitors make it 21-21.

But Chinnor recovered and, after Sale were reduced to 14 men, Holland converted his own try with four minutes to go.

Henley Hawks’s seven-match winning run came to an end in a 32-29 loss at home to Canterbury in National League 2 South.

Tom Best’s try and Ollie Best’s conversion, put the visitors 7-0 up.

Henley hit back with Sam Lunnon, but Canterbury made it 12-5 through Sam Sterling.

Tom Emery crossed as Hawks replied again, however the visitors led 20-10 at the break when Ollie Best kicked a penalty and Sterling dived over.

Tom Best scored his second, with Ollie Best again successful with his kick to make it 27-10.

But Henley refused to give up, with tries from Alex Bradley and Emery, Finn Pietersen converting the latter, reducing the arrears.

However, their hopes were dashed when an error led to Dan Smart crossing for Canterbury.

Hawks dug deep and Emery completed his hat-trick, Liam O’Neill converting, to earn two bonus points.
