DIDCOT Town boss Andy Ballard wants his side to build on their confidence-boosting midweek win when they travel to Folkestone Invicta in the second qualifying round of the Buildbase FA Trophy tomorrow.

The Railwaymen beat Cirencester Town 3-0 in the Southern League Cup on Tuesday night and head to Kent full of confidence.

Ballard is hoping for a similar performance against the Bostik League Premier Division side, where victory would earn £4,000 and put Didcot on the brink of the first round.

“It was pleasing to get back to winning ways against Cirencester,” he said.

“We’ve not been in the best of form, and it was nice to kick on.

“We are really looking forward to our trip to Folkestone, but we know it will be a difficult game against a side playing a level above us.”

Goalkeeper Leigh Bedwell is missing the trip as he is away on international duty in the Falkland Islands with the England C team.

Aaron and Matt Woodley are both sidelined through injury.

Young keeper Matt Crowther replaces Bedwell.

The 18-year-old has previously been with Abingdon United and Old Woodstock Town.

Thame United boss Mark West is backing his team to bounce back from last week’s 5-0 mauling when they travel to Evo-Stik South League Premier Division Central outfit Royston Town.

West, who names an unchanged squad, admitted his side were not at the races against Peterborough Sports, but is looking for a response against a side who are flying high in the league above.

West said: “We were very poor last weekend. The game was over after 25 minutes.

“But the lads don’t let me down very often, and so I am telling them to forget about it and move on.”

“We are looking forward to the game, as we have nothing to lose, and Royston will obviously be massive favourites.”

Banbury United will look to end a run of three successive league defeats when they host Hayes & Yeading Athletic.

Mike Ford’s side have won only once in ten matches, beating Swindon Supermarine in the previous round.

Jack Finch and John Mills are injured, with doubts over Ricky Johnson, Marvin Martin and Charlie Wise.

Meanwhile, North Leigh are out to build on last week’s superb draw when they host high-flying Sporting Bromsgrove in Division 1 Central of the Evo-Stik South League.

The Millers battled back from 3-0 down to snatch an unlikely point at local rivals Kidlington, but will face an enormous test against a Bromsgrove side who sit second in the table.

Kidlington travel to Coleshill Town, with an unchanged squad.

Boss Julian McCalmon has held an extra training session this week in a bid to improve his side’s fitness levels.
