BICESTER AC’S under 13 girls excelled in the first round of the Oxford Mail Cross Country League at Newbury.
They finished second overall, with Anna Jolliffe leading the way in fifth place, followed by Lucy McGrath in sixth and Jenny Critchley 12th.
Amelia Cox crossed ninth in the combined under 15/17 girls race, with Louis Bushby 14th in the boys’, while Jago Newton was fourth in the under 9 event.
Elsie Gibbs was 15th in the under 11 competition.
In the senior men’s race, Alchester are third after the first round in Division 1, with Bicester Tri tenth.
Sam Usher was 23rd in the ladies event.
Elsewhere, Alchester’s Nick Barnett completed the New York Marathon in 4hrs 44mins 48secs.
