HALF a dozen players netted to fire Ardley United to a 6-1 thrashing against visitors Cirencester Town Development.

The Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup first round tie on Tuesday night was the first of three games for United in six days across different cup competitions.

Tobias London, who had scored the consolation in Saturday’s 3-1 Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division defeat at Bishops Cleeve, opened the scoring against Cirencester.

Greg Hackett doubled the lead, but the Division 1 West underdogs pulled a goal back just before half-time.

Ardley’s response after the break was decisive.

Tom Moore stretched the lead, before the tie was put to bed with two goals in as many minutes.

Troy Bryan made it 4-1 and with the next attack Twariq Yusuf gave them a four-goal cushion.

Billy Gillett completed the scoring on a good night for Craig Adey’s men.

Ardley are at home again this Saturday, when they take on Malmesbury Victoria in the second round of the Bluefin Sports Challenge Cup (3pm).

The knockout triple-header is completed on Monday with a visit to Chinnor in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup second round (7pm).
