OXFORD United must come up with the right answers to the questions hanging over their heads when they face AFC Wimbledon today, according to John Mousinho.

The Sky Bet League One clash at Kingsmeadow is between two teams desperate for a win after poor starts to the campaign.

Wimbledon have not won at home this season, while the U’s are yet to taste victory on their travels in the league, although the last two trips have earned draws at Sunderland and Wycombe Wanderers.

Karl Robinson’s visitors come into the game on the back of a midweek meeting with Manchester City’s superstars in the Carabao Cup.

Despite a 3-0 defeat, United took credit for their performance – but Mousinho knows the standards must be maintained.

He said: “We have to go there with a real purpose and intensity anyway and put it on them because of everything that’s happened so far this season and our league position.

“Because if we don’t show that hunger then we’ll have let ourselves down – not just in the big picture, but also because we did it on Tuesday night against the best players in the world.

“That’s a big question mark that we’re going to be able to answer on Saturday.

“We’ve done it against other sides away from home.

“I think there were a lot of question marks hanging over us at the Wycombe game (0-0) and we answered them.”

Robinson made four changes on Tuesday night with one eye on today’s game.

Mousinho was one of those to be rested.

“I had no problem with it,” he said. “The manager told me I wasn’t going to be playing.

“I would’ve liked to have played, but I didn’t and we move on to the league game, which is 100 per cent more important.

“Whoever plays, the lads have got to get Tuesday out of their minds.

“It’s done and dusted and we have to really make sure we focus on the league.”

He added: “They will be well up for a home game against us.

“They will probably be looking at our game on Tuesday and thinking ‘they’ll be coming down from that’.

“We have to be prepared for that and make sure we hit them with a similar if not better intensity.”

Striker Kwesi Appiah could return for AFC Wimbledon after a groin strain, while there will be a late call on midfielder Anthony Wordsworth, back in training after tonsillitis, but it is likely to be too early for centre back Terrell Thomas (knee).
