GARETH Ainsworth hopes there will be a fear factor when Oxford United visit Adams Park tomorrow.

Wycombe Wanderers are heading for their biggest attendance of the season so far, helped by the U’s selling out their allocation for the shortest journey of the Sky Bet League One campaign.

The Chairboys, like the U’s, have won just once so far in the league, but Ainsworth (pictured) is pleased with the way his side have handled the step up since winning automatic promotion.

He said: “I’m really proud that we are competing, we are certainly not getting turned over and there are teams who come up against Wycombe who fear us which is great.

“I’m hoping on Saturday that those are the traits that Oxford are showing because if we keep on playing the way we are, I am confident that we will pick up plenty of points this season.”

Ainsworth has built up games with the U’s during his tenure at Wycombe and tomorrow’s game is no exception.

“It will be a great scalp if we can beat our rivals from just up the M40 there and it should be a great crowd,” he told the Bucks Free Press.

“There is a buzz around the place and I am leading it and hopefully we can win on Saturday.”
