BICESTER & North Oxford clinched the Cherwell League Division 3 title in style with an emphatic 218-run victory at home to Cublington.

Skipper Ryan Moore and Adam Stapleford-Jones scored centuries as the hosts brutally dispatched the bottom side, no doubt intent on avenging one of their only two losses this season.

After being put in to bat, Moore and Stapleford-Jones put Cublington’s bowlers to the sword with a 240-run second-wicket partnership – the biggest stand in the division this year to help Bicester reach 280-3.

In response Cublington were simply blown away by Bicester’s new ball attack of Dan Savin and Ben Clark as the pair rattled through the batting line-up to dismiss them for just 62 inside 20 overs.

Savin finished with 6-25 and Clark 4-35 as they wrapped up the title in double-quick time.

Bicester 2nd kept themselves in with a chance of promotion from Division 7 with a 97-run success away to Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts 2nd.

Will Irving’s 107 helped the visitors reach 197-9, before Rajan Luitel (4-15) and Shahin Ali (3-16) combined to bowl the hosts out for 100.

And Bicester 3rd made it a perfect weekend for the club with an eight-wicket win over Shipton-under-Wychwood 4th in Division 10.

Lee James (3-12) and Ryan McLaughlin (3-41) bowled Shipton out for 113, before George James (44no) steered the hosts to 115-2.

l Dan Savin’s fine form this season has earned him a call-up for Oxfordshire 2nd XI’s match against the Isle of Wight at Bicester next Wednesday.

The 20-year-old all-rounder has scored 418 runs and taken 33 wickets for Bicester in Division 3.
