TIA Brown claimed the sprint double on a successful day for Bicester AC’s girls in the second round of the Oxfordshire Junior League at Banbury.

Brown equalled her personal best of 13.0secs in winning the girls’ under 17 100 metres, with clubmate teammate Rushani Arumugham running a season’s best to take the B-string in 14.3.

Then Brown recorded another pb when winning the A-string 200m in 28.20.

This was another event that Bicester dominated, with Charlotte Hewett landing the B event in 31.70.

Not content with these successes, Brown took the B long jump with a leap of 4.21m.

This time she was outshone by Arumugham, who finished runner-up in the A string with 4.36.

Bicester’s Ebony Rose Lennon also acquired the winning habit as she took the 800 metres in a season’s best of 3mins 6.10secs.

Brown, Arumugham, Rose Lennon and Hewett then combined to win the 100 metre relay.

There are few athletes who have got the better of the consistent Amber Parker in the under 15 throwing events this year.

This time, the Bicester youngster claimed wins in the shot (8.97) and discus (22.31), both of which were national grade 4 efforts.

The club’s other win in the under 15 girls’ events came in the high jump from Georgia Usher with1.30m.

In the boys under 15 competition, Samuel Rayson came second in both the A-string high jump (1.50) and the 80m hurdles (13.3).

Ben Groves took the B-string high jump with a pb of 1.50.

Louis Bushby made an impressive debut in the 1500m, where he recorded the second fastest time by a Bicester male this year with 4.49.6.

Sam White finished runner-up in the under 17 boys’ 100m with 12.4.

There was a great scrap for overall honours among the Bicester under 11 girls.

Isabelle Webb came out on top with 167 points with her best event the 600 metres, where she ran 2.9.0.

Only four points separated Bicester’s next three finishers Jasmine Hendon, Bethany Wetton and Jessica Garside
