ANDY Smith claimed an an amazing four individual golds and two silvers in the West Midlands Masters Championships in Rugby.

Competing in the 30-34 age group, the Bicester Blue Fins swimmer won the 100m and 200m breaststroke plus the 50m and 200m freestyle finals.

Smith also featured in three relay gold medals in the combined 120 years-plus category.

He joined Francis Varney, Alison McGregor and Karen Dela to win the mixed 200m freestyle.

His teammates in the triumphant men’s 200m freestyle were Andy Clarke, Ryan Steward and Michael Proctor, while Dave Jardine replaced Clarke in the club’s winning 200m medley line-up.

Other individual golds came from Steward in the 30-34 100m individual medley, Varney in the 50m freestyle, Proctor in the 25-29 50m freestyle, and Jardine in the 40-44 100m IM.

Blue Fins’ other gold came from Hannah Mansfield, Dela, McGregor and Rebecca Dalton in the open 200m medley relay.

There were also silvers for Steward, Jardine, Mansfield (18-24), McGregor

(25-29) plus Carol Kavanagh and John Littlewood (both 55-59).

The club won 12 golds, eight silvers and seven bronzes.
