AMELIA Cox produced one of her best performances to finish second in the fourth round of the Oxford Mail Cross Country League at Swindon.

The Bicester youngster battled through the hilly and muddy terrain to complete the combined under 15/17 race in a time of 16mins 8secs – 13 seconds behind winner Rachel Burton, of Radley.

Cox was also the first under 15 runner home as she clinched her maiden age group win in the series.

Clubmate Max Nicolle came fourth in the boys equivalent, clocking 19.52.

It was good enough to keep the teenager second in the overall under 15 standings ahead of the final round at the Hill End Centre, Farmoor, on Sunday, March 4.

Teammates Samuel Worfolk and Edward Jolliffe finished in 17th and 18th places respectively.

Bicester’s Timothy Jones came 13th in the under 13 boys race, with Michael Cadle 16th and Freddie Rendell 17th.

Imogen Cox crossed 15th in the girls equivalent.

In the under 11 event, Owen Stocker finished tenth.

Alchester’s Sarah Rendell was 13th in the senior ladies event, while clubmate Samantha Usher sit second in the vet 45 standings.
