LEADERS Ardley United bounced back in the league when beating North Leigh United 2-0 at the Playing Fields on Tuesday night.
Billy Gillett scored twice to keep the north Oxfordshire side two points clear of Easington Sports in Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 West.
Ardley also learned their Oxfordshire Senior Cup quarter-final opponents on the night as they were handed a home tie against Oxford United.
Craig Adey’s side fell to only their second league defeat of the season when they were beaten 1-0 by fourth-placed North Leigh 15 days ago.
But they had an opportunity to quickly avenge the loss.
After a goalless first half, Gillett fired Ardley into the lead from the penalty spot after Troy Bryan was fouled in the area.
The former then notched a second to make sure of victory.
On Saturday, Division 1 East leaders Bicester lost 4-2 at second-placed Virginia Water.
The defeat cut their advantage at the top of the table to five points.
Steve Williams gave the hosts a 27th-minute lead and it was 2-0 before half-time when Joe McBride rifled home.
Bicester fell 4-0 behind as Mark Jonathan and Josh Guichard were on target for Virginia.
But the visitors kept going and grabbed consolation goals through Jason Prpa and Gavin Kidd.
