GREGOR McKenzie narrowly missed out on a perfect end to the season as he was beaten by just one shot in the Van Phillips Trophy at Stoke Park, Buckinghamshire.
The Kirtlington member shot a one-under-par 70 to finish second in the BB&O event promoted by the former European Tour player and winner.
Stoke Park’s Tom Gregory was victorious, shooting a two-under-par round of 69.
McKenzie endured a tough start and found himself three over after the front nine.
But four birdies saw him move to one under, before he was forced to salvage a par at the 17th after hitting a shot out of bounds.
