MAX Nicolle has became the second Bicester athlete to send a club record tumbling this summer.

The youngster broke the under 15 boys’ 3,000m mark, which had stood for more than 20 years and was held by Alex Flynn, son of club chair Steve.

Nicolle’s time of 9mins 39.45secs, which was set at an open meeting at Watford, is just a fraction inside the old record.

It has also moved him up to 32nd in the national under 15 rankings.

l TWO Bicester athletes competed for Oxfordshire in an inter county meeting at Kingston.

Sam Rayson was seventh in the under 13 boys’ 75m hurdles, clocking 13.3.

Rayson had a busy afternoon as he also finished ninth in the long jump with 4.32m and 11th in the shot with 6.64.

Ben Groves was also in action, coming seventh in the under 13 boys’ high jump with a clearance of 1.35.

l BICESTER’S athletes performed well in the Oxford City Quadkids competition at Horspath.

Katie Groves set a personal best of 3.51 when winning the long jump, and posted new marks of 12secs in the 75m and 17.30m in the vortex to finish tenth overall in the under 11 girls’ event.

Jessica Garside finished 21st in the same age group, also setting bests in the 75m (11.9), 600m (2.24.0) and vortex (11.28).

In the under nine girls’ event, Anni Rose Willis was fifth, setting new marks in the 600m (2.38.0), long jump (2.55) and vortex (10.41).

l ALCHESTER’S Samantha Usher has won the veteran 45 series title with one round of the Mota-vation Series remaining.

She finished 75th in the fourth race at Combe.
