BEN Groves and Georgia Usher shone at the Sandra Luke Memorial 5 Star competition at Horspath.

The event involves athletes selecting three track and field events, with the number of stars awarded based on performance, compared with national times and distances.

Groves earned five stars in the under 13 boys, with an outstanding leap of 1.40m in the high jump, as well as strong performances in the 200m (32.15secs) and long jump (3.87m).

Usher matched that feat in the girls equivalent, competing in the 800m (2mins 42.02secs), high jump (1.20) and long jump (3.38).

Michael Cadle earned four stars after throwing a personal best of 21.57m in the javelin – an under 13 boys national grade 4 distance.

He also recorded pbs in the 100m (14.85) and long jump (3.87).

Katie Groves set a club record of 1.10m for under 11 girls in the high jump on her way to four stars.

She set new bests in the 75m (12.10) and long jump (3.17).

Amber Parker was another to earn four stars, with a best of 17.41 in the 75m hurdles and strong efforts in the shot (7.08) and discus (19.88).

In the 10 step competition, Anne-Rose Willis finished 11th in the under 9 girls’ competition.

BICESTER combined with Witney to finish sixth at the UK Youth Development League Midlands North East Division 1A meet at Banbury.

Keiran Finch excelled to win the under 20 men’s high jump with a pb of 1.70m.

Amy Gould set a Bicester club record in the under 17 girls’ 1,500m steeplechase, claiming victory in 6.20.7 in her first attempt at the event.

Molly Acton came second in the 800m.

BEN West produced a fine performance to finish first under 19 and sixth overall in the second round of the Mota-vation Series at Bletchingdon.

Brad Williams, of Bicester Tri, was seventh.
