AMBER Parker set a club record as Bicester put in a spirited performance to finish half a point shy of third in the second round of the UK Youth Development League.

The team put in their best show this season with seven A-string first places in the Midlands North East Division 1C meet at Banbury.

Parker wrote her name into Bicester’s record books when winning the under 15 girls’ hammer with a throw of 22.18m.

She was 5cm short of clinching the discus crown and was also runner-up in the shot with a national grade 4 effort of 7.66m.

Samuel Rayson won the under 13 boys’ 75m hurdles in a grade 3 time of 13.83secs, with Michael Cadle winning the B event.

He also excelled in other events, claiming victory in the shot with a personal best and grade 4 effort of 7.53m as well as achieving a national mark of 1.33m to finish second in the high jump.

Clubmate Ben Groves triumphed in the B-string shot.

Bicester enjoyed an excellent day in the older age group 100m events.

Sam White took the under 15 race with a grade 4 time of 12.5secs, while Tia Brown ran a personal best of 13.9secs to win the under 15 girls’ event.

Max Nicolle had a busy day, winning the B-string 300m in a best of 42.2, before posting grade 4 time of 4.43.3 for second in the A event of the 1,500m – and coming third in the shot.

Amy Willis (under 13 girls’ long jump) and Millie Couzens (under 15 girls’ 1,500m) were also victorious.

  • DAVID Kuester won silver in the Midlands Masters Throwers Group, Weight Pentathlon competition at the Moorways Stadium in Derby.

The Bicester veteran, competing in the 70 and over age group, scored 2,669 points across five disciplines. Barry Hawksworth, of Derby, won with 4,457.
