HOLLY Hunter enjoyed a day to remember in the first round of the UK Youth Development League in Warwick.

Bicester combined with Witney Road Runners at the Midlands North East Division 1A meet, finishing fifth.

Hunter was among the stand-out performers, winning the under 17 girls’ steeplechase in her first attempt at the discipline, before breaking a club record with an effort of 28.01m when claiming third in the javelin.

She also set a personal best of 19.93 in the hammer, while clubmate Amy Gould set a new mark of 16.17 in the B-string.

Lauren Garside competed in three events, with her best performance coming in the under 17 shot, placing fifth with a putt of 8.19m.

She was not far off her best in the long jump, finishing fourth with an effort of 4.20m.

Garside came home in the same position in the 100m in a time of 15.30.

Molly Action finished second in the 300m.

Tom Couzens recorded two bests in the under 17 boys jumping events.

He recorded 1.60m to finish fourth in the A event of the high jump and then recorded 5.07 in the long jump for sixth place.

Couzens also took second in the 800m.

Joe Mimpress was in his best throwing form in the javelin, exceeding the 20-metre mark with an effort of 20.12 to come third in the under 17 A-string event.

He also competed in the 100m (14.70secs) and shot putt (5.50m).

In the under 20 event, Tom Gould came second in the B-string 3,000m and fifth in the A 800m.

JENNY McBain set the fastest time en route to helping Alchester A win the Veteran Ladies prize at the Oxfordshire County Road Relays in Abingdon.

The veteran 35 runner completed her leg in 19mins 19secs, with Samantha Usher and Claire Court also part of the team.

BICESTER Tri’s Brad Williams finished fourth in the first round of the Mota-vation Series at Charlton-on-Otmoor.

Ben West, of Bicester, was the first under 19 home in eighth.
