BICESTER suffered a disastrous five minutes as they slipped to a 5-3 defeat against Old Merchant Taylors 2nd in a high-scoring South League match at The Cooper School.

The results leaves Bicester fifth in the Middlesex Berks Bucks & Oxon Division 1 table. They started strongly, taking the lead through Alex Wilson, but OMT soon equalised.

Bicester then conceded three goals in five minutes to trail 4-1.

They grabbed a goal back through a persistent Will Hartley before half-time.

Crucially, OMT scored first in the second half and they would have added more but for some excellent saves by Peter Bowen.

It was not until late on that Dave Sutcliffe pulled one back for Bicester, who travel to Thame this Saturday looking to get back on track.

Bicester 2nd’s goal drought continued with a 3-0 defeat away to Reading University Knights, a result which sees them slide into MBBO Division 4’s bottom three.

They knew it was not going to be their day when Bicester’s reliable centre back Martyn Southam was unlucky to deflect a goalbound shot on to his foot.

The resulting penalty flick gave keeper Nathan Elliot no chance.

Bicester Ladies continued their losing streak with a 2-1 defeat away to bottom-of-the-table Wycombe in Division 1 of the Trysports Three Counties League.

Already 2-0 down at half-time, Bicester were able to get back in the game with a fantastic strike from player of the match Hannah Newell midway through the second half.

The equaliser eluded them and their desperate search for points continues.
