Ardley United let slip a first-half lead as they went down to their fourth straight Premier Division defeat, in losing 2-1 at home to Holyport on Saturday.

The result means Kevin Brock’s side haven’t won at home since December 13 when they beat Oxford City Nomads 3-2.

A double from Tom Kaill did the damage for the visitors.

Ardley started Saturday’s game the stronger, with Conor Ingram slipping twice at the crucial moment and Darren Beckett having a shot blocked.

At the other end, Ardley keeper Jack Harding tipped away Kaill’s well-struck shot, before the home side went ahead on 11 minutes.

Luke Ingram broke down the left before Troy Bryan deflected his cross into the net off the inside of the far post past Sam Southerden in the Holyport goal.

Ardley appeared to be in control, but they were unable to convert the opportunities that fell their way.

And they were made to pay a heavy price as Holyport seized control in the second half.

Kaill and Jamie Essex continually pressed the home side’s defence, with Harding making a string of fine saves to preserve Ardley’s lead.

So there was little surprise when Holyport equalised on 82 minutes, though it was in bizarre fashion.

A corner kick from Kaill went straight into the net after Harding un accountably missed his punch.

Things got worse for the hosts two minutes later when Holyport scored what proved to be the winner.

Another corner was not properly cleared and Kaill was on hand to ram the ball home.

Ardley went in search of an equaliser, but Holyport held on as the home side’s miserable run continued.

On Saturday, Ardley travel to Bracknell Town.
