England has beat Ukraine in their second qualifying match for next year's UEFA Euros after Harry Kane scored the first goal near the end of the first half.

The Three Lions were the favourites to win with Ukraine's national team having to travel to the UK using overnight trains as flights to and from the beleaguered nation are not available.

When the match kicked off at Wembley Stadium in London at around 5 pm, the sell-out crowd were more than enthusiastic with hundreds of seats reserved for Ukrainian refugees.

In the end, the score was 2-0 with Harry Kane (37 minutes) and Bukayo Saka (40 minutes) scoring goals, seeing England remain at the top of Group C.

Many thought there was a penalty opportunity for England early in the game but this was not to be.

Previously, England beat Italy in their opening match 2-1 after a penalty from Harry Kane meant that the team captain became England's all-time record goalscorer, overtaking Wayne Rooney.

This comes as other home nations like Scotland played their opening qualifier matches with Scotland beating Cyprus 3-0 at Hampden.

Wales played Croatia, returning a draw with Northern Ireland set to play Finland today (March 26) at 7:45 pm.

The next match England has to play in their 2024 Euros campaign will be on June 16, 2023, when they play Malta.
