ABBA has released a new song Just A Notion which was originally recorded in 1978 but never made public.

Band member Bjorn has admitted that he doesn’t know why it wasn’t originally released, but it was likely to have been recorded around the time of Voulez-Vous and ABBA The Album.

“’Just A Notion’ is a ridiculously happy song and hopefully it will cheer you up in these dark times!’” Bjorn said on Twitter.

The song is the third single to be released from the band’s new album and follows the hit Don’t Shut Me Down which earned more than a million views in its first three hours.

ABBA’s first studio album for forty years, ABBA Voyage will be revealed to fans on November 5 and accompany the highly anticipated 2022 virtual tour.

The tour will see digital versions of the band playing six nights a week, accompanied by a 10-piece live band.

Fans react to ABBA's new song

Fans have taken to Twitter to voice their views on the new song and it seems that the majority are loving the sound from the 1970s.

“Just a notion doesn't hit as hard at don't shut me down but it's still good,” said one user.

“Honestly, @ABBA are the saving grace of 2021!” wrote another.

Comedian and Great British Bake Off host Matt Lucas expressed his love for the song on Twitter.

"Just A Notion...another gorgeous new @abba track (rescued from the 70s). We are being spoiled," Lucas said.
