Clarendon Centre set for a revamp
Plans to revamp the Clarendon shopping centre in Oxford have been unveiled.
The centre has been closed since last year, with shops like TK Maxx relocating to the Westgate centre.
GP (Goldmoney Properties) Clarendon Square Ltd has submitted a planning application to the city council to renovate the centre with a new square.
The centre was bought by Canadian investor Roy Sebag, who owns Goldmoney Properties, in 2024.
The new square is expected to reduce the amount of space available for retail units, and some research and development hubs are expected to feature alongside retail units.
Anoushka Rowland Payne, director of estate development for the applicant, said: "The project hopes to rejuvenate Oxford's city centre, creating a beautiful setting where people can linger, shop, and dine."
The plans have since been removed from public viewing.
750 homes planned for Bicester
Bicester could get another 750 homes, a local centre, sports pitches and a new primary school after plans were lodged.
It would be built on farmland north of Caversfield outside the town, between Fringford Road and the A421, just below Dymocks Farm House and Lawlors Barn.
Developer Gladman submitted the plans to Cherwell District Council.
They previously submitted a scoping opinion request for the site last year for 900 homes, a primary school, a local centre and a fire station.
The plans can be viewed using the reference number 26/00452/OUT on Cherwell District Council’s planning portal.
Historic pub renovation plans
Renovation works are set to take place at the Red Lion pub in Eynsham after plans were submitted to West Oxfordshire District Council.
The plans include adding a pergola walkway from the pub to garden, a raisedcovered timber pergola to cover the outdoor seating, and extending and changing the decking area.
According to the design and access statement, the works “seek to enhance the year-round usability of the pub garden, improve connectivity between key areas of the site, and support the sustainable long-term use of the heritage asset”.
The pub is Grade II listed,
The reference number for the plans is 26/00385/LBC.
Emergency repairs for Wallingford antiques centre
A retrospective application for emergency repair works to an antiques centre wall was submitted to the council.
The Lamb Arcade on Castle Street in Wallingford has been around since 1550, and is now used as an antiques centre with a tearoom and Thai restaurant.
According to the design and access statement, the repairs were to the render on one part of the lower half of the building.
It added: “The existing render which was sand and cement was wet and crumbling away so it was a matter of urgency to put this right.
“The new render is breathable and will last for many years and will protect the fabric of the building.
“When the weather improves, the wall will be painted with quality paint, matching the existing colour.”
