A commemorative Brexit 50p coin is being sold online for more than £17,000.

The Harleston-based eBay seller is listing the 2020 coin, which marks the UK's EU withdrawal, for £17,586.70.

The coin features the message "peace, prosperity and friendship with all nations" and is priced at more than 35,000 times its face value.

The Royal Mint says the coin "commemorates the United Kingdom's departure from the European Union on January 31, 2020".

The coin's obverse shows the last coinage portrait of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Despite the high asking price, the Royal Mint does not consider the coin rare, as 10 million of the same design are in circulation.

However, collectors may still pay a premium for it.
